MSc (Zoology)
Angus (Gus) McNab is an experienced ecologist with over 16 years of experience working with a diverse range of wildlife. His work as a wildlife biologist is primarily focused in northern Australia, with some international projects taking him abroad to Borneo, North, Central and South America.
From his initial fascination with reptiles, Gus’ interest soon broadened to all wildlife assemblages. He developed considerable practical field knowledge, a detailed understanding of monitoring program design and implementation, and a thorough knowledge of vertebrate ecology through his involvement with numerous wildlife surveys and monitoring projects.
Angus has extensive experience in wildlife based projects, animal trapping, handling and data collection on all Australian vertebrate fauna groups. He has gained this experience in the Central Kimberley Region, North Eastern Arnhem Land, Central Western Australia, Northern New South Wales, Tasmania and throughout Queensland. Gus’ role as a wildlife biologist has been varied, requiring him to become skilled in both field preparation and logistics.
You can often find him out in the field, leading wildlife surveys while mentoring staff and volunteers on the project. Angus’ professional development has involved working with a variety of organisations, universities, private consultancies, researchers, mining and gas companies, traditional owner groups, government departments, non-profit organisations, non-government organisations, conservation groups, museums, and local interest groups. This vast range of networking opportunities has provided him with a wealth of information, as well as the opportunity to remain up-to-date on ecological developments throughout Australia.
